Happy mail

My poor blog has been neglected a lot lately, april is such a busy month so far.
The Easter holiday was very busy at work, my mom was in hospital 2 times (the second time unexpected, there were complications after her surgery so she needed another surgery.. she's geting better now!) and i didn't feel good myself. Suffered a week from this bad headache which made me feel sick and moody..

Luckily there's the postman who puts a smile on my face from time to time!
Here are two happy snailmail surprises, the first from Ruchama and the other one from dear Barbara!

Ruchama doesn't have a blog, i think i mentioned that before, but she did start a blog about snailmail with some of her penpals! It's written in dutch but maybe the others can look at the pictures? You can find the 'Postfabriek' here! i admire Ruchama's envelope-making-skills! She always manages to make beautiful envelopes with gorgeous illustrations, receiving mail from her is an honor!

 

Barbara is enjoying a holiday in Thailand right now, i had to laugh when i heard she planned a trip there! Her Thailand-time is almost finished and then it's my turn :)

She spoiled me with some beautiful postcards, washi tape & other happy surprises! Thank you lots!

 

 

 

Paper Love #5

Here's a new paper love! Don't you just love those illustrations? I do for sure!!

The apple on the boy's suit and the text! So funny :)

 

I'm still waiting for my summer swap gift to arrive.. but i'm afraid something has gone wrong and it got lost maybe? Or maybe arrived at the wrong house? Hopefully not!

It's been a while... but here's another paper love!

It started with one book from a fleamarket but now i have collected many already.

I love Alain Grée's style so much, i can't resist his books.

They are like a magnet when i spot them...

Colorful, cute drawings & an instant nostalgic feeling :-)

Only 2 workingdays left & then it's time to relax and enjoy free time!

Paper Love #3

Time for some more paper love!
Another beautiful cover i could not leave behind in the thriftstore..
When i was a kid i always wanted to work in a library, in my imagination that library was big, dusty and the books smelled like old books should.
These days i actually still want to work in a library but the only downside is i'd have to go study again for it! Maybe some day if i can't keep up with the kids anymore...

Saturday we went to see the Manic Street Preachers at the Trix in Antwerp.

It was great!! What a voice...

Paper love #2

Here's another beauty...

I love to spent time in the book department of thriftstores. Search for old books and then find one with a cover like this makes my day! I don't care what the story is about, if the cover looks nice it's a yes... I plan to read them all one day though.. (maybe when i'm old & grey?)

Heleen Van Ramshorst (also known as Heleen Callenbach) lived from 1894 till 1969 so i'm guessing this book is an oldie.. can't find a date in the book. It looks and smells old.

Beautiful cover & nice drawings inside...

Paper love #1

There are many things i collect, my grandpa did it and i got that same 'collecting-bug' too :)

Old postcards, wooden dolls, vintage toys,...but also: old children's books! I just can't resist all the beautiful covers!! There are stacks of them all around the house, they brighten up our interior with their colors. So i thought it would be nice to show some of my favourites...

And to start this series, here's my favourite of all.. cause i got it from a special friend. It first belonged to her and some months ago she gave it to me. We both have a thing with apples and since this book has the title 'My friend Apple' it's very suiting for us!

This book is like a treasure to me and will be cherised for as long as i live...

Oh and for anyone who's interested, the author of this book is Gabriel Chevallier.
