Thrifted treasures

Some months ago my friend and me had a saturday full of thrifting planned! In the morning we went to garage sales spread over a nearby village (we loved those garage sales!!), had lunch while we were driving cause there was no time to loose :) , and in the afternoon we visited some thriftstores and also a lady who sells all kind of old stuff in the barns behind her house. And those barns were filled up to the roof!! We went kind of crazy there...

Here are some treasures i found that day, oh and those wonderful tins? The lady of the barns gave them for free!! She obviously didn't know what they are worth :)

 

Have a good weekend all of you! Here it's kind of a lonely one.. bf is away with the guys for a weekend of gaming (playstation)! But the lonely ladies of the guys are going to cheer eachother up this evening, so yay!!

 

 

 

 

A little trip

Totally out of the blue, bf and i decided to make a little trip on thursday and friday. We booked a hotel in Best, close to Eindhoven and the only thing we looked up were local thriftstores :)

We had fun, found good treasures in the thriftstores and look at the nice colorful chairs they have there! I also love all the wooden furniture they've made, like the table!

 

On friday we've visited Nijmegen, did some good shopping and threated ourselves with some deliscious pancakes... mmmmm!!

 

And ofcourse i visited the Tiger shop and left with a bag full of cute stuff  :)

 

I'm about to follow a course of patchwork with a friend, how exciting!! I already have some ideas of what i want to make...

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

From the thriftstore

My finds from a visit to the thriftstore last week .. it was quite a good catch! Some wooden dolls, 3 nice quartets, postcards, invitations, pencils and this beautiful vase with polkadots!
A perfect hunt at the thriftstore for me!

. We went to a sunny fleamarket! Finally sunshine again, what a treat!

.  I enjoyed discovering what's in this bag full of beautiful greenish buttons i found in a thriftstore!

. It's my friend Cy's birthday! Hurray!

Retro time!

I promised to show you my retro-day finds... here they are. I went to one of the local thriftstores, not so busy as the big retro-fair in Ghent but still, enough people to grab the nice stuff away in front of your eyes! Luckily there was lots this time and i managed to find these things.

A pile of pretty old cards, with animals, flowers, fishes,... I love these kind of old cards! A really cool english tray! It's a Worchester one, my third!

This old punch machine (is that the right word??), makes me think of 'Mad Men'! And old books to note what people order to drink in pubs.

These stamps! Love them... Some of the stamps i will keep as they are, but others can be used for newly made stamps. I like all the different wooden handles.

There was more, but that's top secret 'till christmas! The person who will get it is reading this blog too so...

Thrift finds

I'm a regular visitor of the local thriftstores, it's rare that i come home empty handed and sometimes i find really nice things! Like this teapot! I was so excited to find it, i collect them and i love polkadots soooo this got to be one of my favourites now!! The little stool had to come with me too, one can never have enough seats, right?
And something else i can't resist are pull dolls!! Especially if they're only 50 cents!

The books... i'll show you more of them later, i've got a lot of new ones, mostly children's books with beautiful covers..

But right now, i have to go eat some bananacake, i baked it this morning and now it's ready to attack! Mmmmm! Enjoy your sundays!

My cup of saturday

Yesterday was a good day! It was 'Day of the thriftstores'! The thriftstores keep the special items for days like these and it's always very exciting to explore the shops. The prices are higher though than normally but i did found some nice things, pictures will follow later!
And there was yummy free soup... with a free mug :) I got one of these Boch mugs, a buddy for the one i already had!

In the meanwhile i'm counting the days till our holiday! Egypt... here i (almost) come!!

Thriftstore treasures..

3 new ladies arrived at my house saturday! I found them in the local thriftstore, all for a little price. I can't wait to find a perfect cabinet for my wooden dolls cause most of them are stocked in a box for now....

Retro finds

After a long winter and lots of indoor flea markets, it was such a pleasure to go to an open air flea market again!! I found some nice things but this post isn't about those. Some weeks ago there was a "retro day" in the local thriftstores, lots of visitors on a day like that, but i managed to find some treasures anyway!! (thanx to bf who helped spotting the interesting stuff!)
